Alley Cat III race results

The Reigning Champ and the soon to be champI didn’t know much about this race when I signed up for it. The info was sketchy at best but that’s never stopped me before. About forty riders showed up to take part in the race, a few more than last year.

The route took us from a start at Seratoma shelter #11 all the way to the other side of town at Sleepy Hollow Park by way of Pioneer Park, Central Market, and K-Mart, with a brief stop by US bank on Third Street. The goal was to get to all of those spots first and get back to shelter #11 in one piece. The added kicker was that at Central Market and K-Mart you had to purchase something so you were at the mercy of the check out person, the other spots had a deck of cards to prove you found the spot.

I had a great time doing this and have to suggest this to anyone interested in riding around town. Many of those riding were just in it for the ride and the hot dog and beer afterward. If you like cruising around the streets of Bismarck, dodging traffic and generally trying not to get your ass run over you would love it. I have to give credit Tyler and Ian for putting on such a twisted event, and of course Barry’s Bikes for hosting it.

So whether you want to challenge this year’s winners or just ride with your buddies and have some fun, make sure to watch for next year’s date. You won’t regret it.

When the hell did Bismarck become such a bike town? I remember the days back in ‘96-’97 when it was only starving college/high school kids popping wheelies in McDonald’s parking lot off Main St. We knew those streets like the backs of our hands, often “racing” from north Bis (my place on W Interstate Ave and Wash) to south Bis (then Sergio’s). Ah, to be young again…

Ya, I remember you making the BSC (Bismarck State College) Newspaper for riding your bike all winter long in 97! I thought you were you were just all wired wrong man! I had no Idea what biking was then. P.S. Also getting me kicked to the curb at my dwelling.

    Take care Jayme!

  4. Schlatter says:

First how many people have you gotten kicked out of their homes? and two do the initials “JM” mean anything, you really did inhale to much weed killer as a kid!

  5. Jodi says:

Even I know who JM is Kohler (-; You lived with him for awhile ~ remember yet?

  6. Jayme says:

It’s not the weed killer back in the day. It’s chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. I really can’t remember. Where am I?
