I am not positive who I can thank for this latest crack like habit. I am thinking it had something to do with Frank and Chad but who was the first pusher I am not sure. For any of you who know me know I attended an Ebay anonymous meeting a few years back for that habit. I am a deal junkie and these sites have sprung up some bad habits once again. I will have to get used to seeing the UPS guy again. Now the gist of the sites one new deal every half and hour you normally can only buy one item per IP address so keep you ebay reselling dreams to yourself. They also claim to watch ebay and ban you if you try such tactics. Have fun and check back often there are some good deals on some quality items no bargain basement nashbar items on the sites.

I know this is a little late for some but in case you have not heard there is a new bike shop coming to the Bismarck/Mandan area. Barry’s Bikes will be opening their doors sometime in late March. This is going to be a rider owned bike shop that is going to welcome everyone from the beginning rider to the seasoned vet. From talking with Barry I got the feeling this is going to be a rider’s style bike shop where you can stop in on a ride and talk bikes, or just hang out. He is already planning some group rides that will definitely cater to some of you new riders in the area. I definitely like what I am hearing so far because I really feel we need more of that in the area. Make sure you stop by www.mountainbikingx.com to check for updates on group rides and such, since our group of riders will also be working with Barry to plan some rides. You can also call or stop by the shop for more info.

They are going to be a fully authorized dealer for Giant Bicycles along with offer bikes from Swobo. Now it goes with out saying that I think Giant is one of the best brands on the market. This will be a nice addition to the area. I have seen some of the new Giants up close and they are beautiful bikes. The have top of the line specs, on top notch well built frames. Look for a few reviews to follow on Mountainbikingx.com since I am going to ride a few and tell you what I think. Swobo for those of you that don’t know is a bike and clothing maker out of San Francisco. They make some interesting coaster, single speed, fixed gear and internal hub bikes.

Along with the bikes they will carry a full line of clothing from some manufacturers that you have not seen in town before. Two of these are companies which specialize in Women’s clothing, Harlot, and Sheila Moon. And of course they will be a fully service shop with some of the best Mechanics in town, so take your rig in for its spring tune up.

Some of you will recognize Barry from old Dakota Cyclery days and some of you may not know him, but once they are open stop in and say Hi, He is a great guy that is knowledgeable about biking and is easy to shoot the shit with.

The shop is located at 112 South Hannifin Street, Bismarck, ND 58504. I will repost when they are open.

I am going to begin a new chapter in MountainbikingX.com: product reviews. I’m going to review everything from headsets to tools to new bikes. I am mainly going to do reviews on products that I have purchased, and am using. I may throw in a few guest reviews or reviews on demo items I get my paws on. Now you may ask what gives me the knowledge to do a review, well hell I don’t really need any. It’s my website on the World Wide Web. I can do with it what I want. But ask any of my riding buddies and they will tell I have a tendency to buy and sell numerous items, use them, and if I like them I keep them if I don’t so on down the line. Through that process I have definitely found out what is good and what is junk.

Some of my reviews will be rather lengthy and probably updated as I am using the item, and some will be short and too the point. I am going to try and stay consistent with my system I use. I am not going to use a ranking system since for the most part they are in my opinion useless everyone’s abilities, knowledge, and general grading of items is different. Plus if I really hate the item and rank it low it doesn’t necessarily mean it is a bad item, it may just not be for me. What I am going to do is give you a general idea of what the item is, how it works, and what I think. I will do that by using a three part system. Part one will be the description, what the item is, and what it is use for and what makes it tick. Part two will be the actually performance of the product, how well does it work, does it do what it is supposed to. And part three with be my final thoughts, should you buy, is it worth the money, or is there something better out there. I will also give a quick break down of certain things at the beginning of the post, such as price, year, and some other tidbits of info.

This is a work in progress and if I may be tweaking things as I go along so bear with me, also if there is things you would like to see add to the reviews let me know.

Some of the first items up to be reviewed are a 2008 Fox Float RP23 Rear shock, a 2007 Rock Shox Revelation 426 Dual Air Fork, and a set of Nokon Shifter Cables.
